Palm Bay, FL – Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina has called a special City Council meeting for Tuesday, September 30, at 6:00 p.m. to address the conduct and decorum of the City Council, following the latest round of inflammatory public remarks from Councilman Chandler Langevin.

The agenda lists only one item: “Discussion of conduct and decorum of City Council.” We have been informed that the Mayor will be asking for fellow councilman to sign a letter of “unity.” Below is a post from Councilman Langevin on unity.
Langevin recently posted that “there’s not a single Indian that cares about the United States,” claiming Indian Americans are in the country only to “exploit us financially and enrich India and Indians.” The remarks quickly drew backlash from residents, community leaders, and advocacy groups, who condemned the comments as xenophobic and divisive.
There’s not a single Indian that cares about the United States.
They are here to exploit us financially and enrich India and Indians.
Local Republican Party official Karen Boehmer Colby, however, defended Langevin publicly, echoing similar rhetoric online. She is scheduled to speak on behalf of Brevard Republicans at the State Delegation meeting this week, further intensifying scrutiny of the party’s alignment with Langevin’s views.
This is not the first time Langevin has courted controversy. Throughout his campaign and time in office, he has repeatedly made incendiary statements—ranging from quoting Confederate president Jefferson Davis to disparaging minority communities.

During the 2022 campaign, The Space Coast Rocket reached out to every individual and organization that endorsed Langevin to ask whether they stood by their support in light of these comments. That included Congressman Randy Fine, former Congressman Mike Haridopolos, former Congressman Dave Weldon, Rep. Chase Tramont, and the Space Coast Association of Realtors.
Not a single one responded.
To this day, all of them remain silent—not only about Langevin’s past rhetoric but also about his most recent comments targeting Indian Americans.
Proud to support my friend Chandler for Palm Bay City Council. Excellent coverage by the @FLVoiceNews on local and state issues and news. https://t.co/TFik1318FG

The silence of his backers is notable given how close Langevin’s election was. He narrowly defeated his opponent Alfy Ramsay Agarie by fewer than 650 votes out of more than 55,000 cast—50.55% to 49.45%.
Political observers note that the endorsements, political connections, and financial support from these figures and organizations undoubtedly played a decisive role in securing Langevin’s razor-thin victory.
The special meeting will give the City Council an opportunity to address what Mayor Medina has described as concerns over “decorum.” Whether any action will be taken against Langevin remains to be seen.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at Palm Bay City Hall, 120 Malabar Road SE, at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30.
Below are just some of the recent posts on X by Langevin.
