1. Why are you running?

I am running to raise the quality of life for the residents of Florida House District 33. We have a moral obligation to provide robust support systems wherever we have the power to act. Ultimately, we will be judged by how we treat our most vulnerable.

2. What are your top three priorities if elected?

1) Economic Develop a strategy to create more affordable housing, reduce the cost of insurance and utilities, attract new businesses who pay competitive wages.

2) Social Liberty and equality for all, make government accountable

3) Environmental Protect clean air and water for future generations

3. What is the single biggest problem facing the people this office serves, and how would you address it?

The biggest problem is a lack of commitment from elected officials. We need to acknowledge and commit to improve, the reality that more children live in poverty now than last year, and 1 out of 2 households in Brevard are living paycheck to paycheck.

We need a long term Economic Development Plan that will 1st, attract new businesses and then 2nd, an economic commitment and promise from our leaders to retrain the current workforce to qualify for newer, higher paying jobs.

4. How will you keep constituents informed and involved in your decisions?

I will continue to communicate in the same way as I am conducting my campaign. My campaign sent surveys to over 36,000 registered voters in the district – Inclusive of all parties and NPA’s. The goal is to achieve consensus by considering all viewpoints and priorities, regardless of party.

Social media and community focus teams will be key to achieving an “Open Door Policy” so all residents feel their voices are heard.

5. Why are you a better choice than your opponents?

My opponent has demonstrated a commitment to the political establishment that elected her and not the community she currently serves. She is heavily supported by a donor base of special interests and corporations, primarily outside the area.

In contrast, I am primarily supported by individuals who live in the community and am very much my own person. I have a strong record of independent thinking and voted with fiscal responsibility in city government, reduced property taxes each year and voted consistently against development that would harm the environment.

7. Anything else you’d like voters to know?

Bottom line. Our state representatives need to demonstrate a sense of urgency and immediately write legislation to reduce the high cost of living, specifically focusing on reducing the high cost of housing, home and vehicle insurance, groceries and utilities. I MAKE THAT PLEDGE.
