According to an arrest affidavit from the Rockledge Police Department, officers responded on August 12, 2025, to a home on Brookview Lane after receiving reports of a domestic incident involving a minor. Investigators say 50-year-old Mayra Oralia Grijalva Garcia knowingly struck the victim on the left arm with a belt, leaving visible marks approximately one inch wide — consistent with being hit by a belt.

The affidavit states the incident began as a verbal argument. When the victim refused to comply with her commands, Grijalva Garcia allegedly escalated the situation by striking him two or more times with the belt. Officers documented and photographed the injuries, which were also observed by another officer on scene.

Court records show Grijalva Garcia was booked into the Brevard County Jail just before 11 p.m. Tuesday on one count of Child Abuse Without Great Bodily Harm, a third-degree felony. She is listed as a “Prisoner Type 31 – OAF Undocumented Aliens (Female)” in the jail’s custody system, with a $0 bond under pretrial release.

A message obtained by The Space Coast Rocket from an individual connected to the case indicated that jail officials confirmed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will be taking custody of Grijalva Garcia.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 9, 2025, before Judge Michelle Baker.

If convicted, Grijalva Garcia faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine under Florida law.
