He then contrasted Brazil's speed with Detroit, Philadelphia, California and other U.S. cities and states, where he said results "will often take weeks to Rig, I mean, calculate." He ended the post: "Voting in America is CORRUPT!!!"![]()
Brazil uses electronic voting machines nationwide, and voting there is mandatory for most adults. In the U.S., election rules are set state by state. California counts mail ballots that arrive up to seven days after Election Day, and Pennsylvania law bars election workers from processing mail ballots until Election Day morning.![]()

The Shelekhov District Hospital has been placed under quarantine, and 197 people who may have come into contact with the deceased have been placed under medical supervision. The quarantine measures, which authorities have not formally confirmed are linked to plague, affect three municipal hospitals in Irkutsk, No. 1, No. 3 and No. 10, along with the Ivano-Matreninskaya Children's Hospital and a maternity hospital, Lyudi Baikala reported. The outlet said the hospitals were closed for three weeks and that patient visits are prohibited.![]()
On October 3, masks became mandatory at the Irkutsk Aluminum Plant in Shelekhov. Authorities canceled planned public events in Irkutsk, while police have opened a criminal investigation into potential health safety violations, according to the 112 Telegram channel.![]()
Official messaging has been mixed. Russia's consumer health agency Rospotrebnadzor stated that there were no accidents involving pathogenic microorganisms at the institute, and that the employee was found to have "pneumonia of unknown etiology," not plague. Some local media reported she broke a test tube containing the plague pathogen.![]()
Alexey Tsydenov, head of neighboring Buryatia, posted that "the woman who died of plague in the Irkutsk region had not visited Buryatia." His post was later edited to read "the woman who may have died of plague." Authorities in Baikalsk also urged residents not to travel to Shelekhov because of plague, but deleted the post a few hours later.![]()
In the U.S., the State Department says it is closely monitoring reports that a suspected case of pneumonic plague in Russia may have killed a laboratory researcher and exposed nearly 200 people. Officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other agencies to track developments.![]()
The WHO describes pneumonic plague as the "most virulent form of plague," which affects the lungs and can have an incubation period of as little as 24 hours. Plague is treatable with common antibiotics, especially when treatment starts early.![]()
