MELBOURNE, Fla. — A Melbourne Police detective has filed an affidavit seeking the arrest of Kaden Fidelis Turner, 19, identifying him as a known member of the Purple Baby Gang following a high-speed pursuit through a busy intersection in south Melbourne.

According to the affidavit sworn by Detective Jordan Wilson of the Melbourne Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, the incident began on July 29, 2025, when officers conducting criminal intelligence patrols spotted a black Infiniti sedan driving recklessly near Harbor City Boulevard and Babcock Street.

Detective Wilson reported that he and another detective observed the Infiniti weaving through traffic and changing lanes without signaling. Upon pulling alongside the vehicle, Wilson stated he clearly identified the driver as Kaden Turner and the passenger as Aiden Thomas—both of whom he described as well-known members of the Purple Baby Gang with prior law enforcement encounters.

“I have had multiple contacts with Turner throughout my career with MPD, to include traffic stops and vehicle searches,” Wilson wrote in his affidavit.

The Pursuit

Upon realizing he was being watched, Turner allegedly stopped abruptly in the roadway, executed a U-turn, and accelerated southbound at high speed. Detectives attempted a traffic stop, activating emergency lights and sirens, but Turner allegedly ignored commands to yield.

The affidavit states that Turner’s vehicle “entered the center turning lane and proceeded south through the intersection of Babcock Street and Harbor City Boulevard without yielding or attempting to stop.” Due to continued reckless driving, officers terminated the pursuit.

A subsequent records check revealed that Turner’s driver’s license had been suspended since May 27, 2025, for failure to pay prior traffic fines.

Later Surveillance and Second Encounter

Later that evening, detectives located the same Infiniti parked at a Palm Bay residence registered to Aiden Thomas. Surveillance was set up, and around 11:05 p.m., Turner and Thomas were seen leaving the home. Turner allegedly reversed the vehicle out of the driveway at high speed, prompting officers and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper to follow.

A second pursuit began near Fairfax Avenue NE and Onyx Drive NE, where the Infiniti sped through residential streets. The chase was later terminated due to the suspect’s dangerous driving behavior.

Charges Filed

Based on the events and sworn testimony, Detective Wilson requested an arrest warrant for Turner, citing probable cause for the following offenses under Florida law:

  • Fleeing and Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer (316.1935(1))
  • Resisting an Officer Without Violence (843.02)
  • Driving While License Suspended (322.34(2)(A))

The affidavit notes that Turner’s alleged actions occurred at the intersection of Babcock Street and Harbor City Boulevard in Melbourne, Brevard County. He was arrested and charged on October 20, 2025.

Gang Connection

Detective Wilson explicitly noted that both Turner and Thomas are “documented members of the Purple Baby Gang,” a local street group known to Melbourne Police for prior encounters involving drugs, vehicle thefts, and armed altercations.

The gang has drawn law enforcement attention in recent years for its growing presence across Brevard County, particularly in Palm Bay and Melbourne, where members are frequently tied to violent crimes and organized street-level offenses.

What’s Next

As of this filing, Kaden Fidelis Turner faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. The Melbourne Police Department continues its broader investigation into the activities of the Purple Baby Gang and its connections to other criminal networks operating in the region.
