Cocoa Police Department Gun Buyback Pulls 47 Firearms Off the StreetThe Cocoa Police Department says it collected 47 firearms during a gun buyback event held today, describing them as unused and unwanted weapons that could have ended up in the wrong hands. In a post thanking participants, the department credited several community partners for making the event happen, including the City of Rockledge Government, The REAL Church Inc of Brevard County, and Jarvis Wash Real Radio 104.1.Buyback programs let residents turn in firearms with no questions asked, and supporters argue they reduce the number of unsecured guns that can be lost, stolen, or used in a crime. What do you think? Are gun buybacks an effective public safety tool, or just feel-good policy? Sound off in the comments. ... See MoreSee Less

🚨 TITUSVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH LEWD EXHIBITION TO A CHILD AT MAIN STREET ICE CREAM SHOP 🚨David Santana, 31, of Titusville, was booked into the Brevard County Jail on May 29 after Titusville Police say he exposed himself to a juvenile employee inside an ice cream shop on Main Street.According to the arrest affidavit, an officer responded to Cruisers ice cream shop at 400 Main St. in reference to an indecent exposure call. The teen worker told police that Santana, who had been using the restaurant restroom, asked her age and whether she was the only worker there, then asked her to bring him a roll of toilet paper. When she returned to the restroom door, investigators say Santana was standing fully nude in the open doorway. The affidavit states he continued calling after her — repeatedly telling her "lil mama" to come back — as she retreated to the back of the store and called for help.Police say that after being read his rights, Santana told the officer he "prefers to strip off all of his clothing" when using the restroom and claimed he was simply trying to talk to her.He is charged with Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition by an Offender Over 18 on a Child Under 16, a felony. He's being held on a $50,000 bond and is due in court June 23.A LONG RECORD: This is far from Santana's first run-in with local law enforcement. Brevard County jail records show a string of prior bookings dating back to 2018, including:Robbery (2020)Dealing in Stolen Property / Passing Altered ID (2024 & 2025)Carrying a Concealed Firearm (2018)Trespassing (2026)Drug Possession & Possession of ParaphernaliaMultiple counts of Resisting an OfficerPetit Theft / ShopliftingMultiple violations of probation and failures to appear#Titusville #BrevardCounty #SpaceCoast #CrimeNews ...
