Palm Bay Man Killed in Early Morning Crash Walking along State Road 528

Brevard County, FL – A 22-year-old pedestrian from Palm Bay was fatally struck early Saturday morning while walking along State Road 528 (Beachline Expressway) near Courtenay Parkway. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to the scene just after 12:20 a.m.

According to the FHP report, the crash occurred as a 2019 Honda Accord, driven by a 31-year-old Melbourne resident, was traveling eastbound in the merge lane leading to the Courtenay Parkway exit. The pedestrian, identified as “P1” in the report, was walking eastbound in the same merge lane, reportedly wearing dark clothing. The driver stated he did not see the pedestrian in time to avoid the collision.

The impact occurred when the front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who sustained fatal injuries. Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His next of kin has been notified.

The driver and a 16-year-old passenger from Merritt Island were not injured in the crash. Both were wearing seat belts, and the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

Authorities noted that the crash remains under investigation. No further details have been released regarding potential contributing factors.
