The Minor Football League (MFL) returns to Florida’s Space Coast

The Minor Football League (MFL) is set to make its anticipated return to Florida’s Space Coast this week. Established in 1993 by Founder and CEO Dr. Richard Myles, the MFL offers unique opportunities not typically found outside of college or professional football. Known as the “laboratory of change,” the MFL assists players in transitioning from playing on the field to roles in the front office. The league also boasts its own sports network, “The MFL Experience” and “Inside the MFL,” featuring television and radio programming on DKN Sports and DC Radio, hosted by Dr. Myles, who also presents “Game Time” on DC Radio. An NFL veteran and Sociology major who graduated from Arizona State University, Dr. Myles background includes playing as a Safety for the New England Patriots in the National Football League NFL.
Other MFL officials that will be on the Space Coast this week include Dr. Charles Olawole, Commissioner of MFL Africa who also is also the President of Graffiti Consulting Incorporated, a fast-growing IT consulting firm in the State of Maryland, specializing in supporting government IT contracts. He is the Co-Founder, Alok-Ignite Incorporated, an international consulting firm with special interests in Africa.
Victoria Jones, President & CEO of the Space Coast Black Chamber of Commerce (SCBCC), emphasized the exciting collaboration with the Minor Football League (MFL) that began this past summer. This partnership has been strategically designed to create economic opportunities for businesses in Brevard County and stimulate tourism in the region. The collaboration aims to provide local businesses with increased visibility and new avenues for growth through involvement in sports-related events and activities. By introducing a new sports teams and events, the partnership is expected to attract more visitors to the Space Coast, thereby boosting local tourism and related sectors. Jones expressed her enthusiasm about the opportunities this collaboration brings to members of the SCBCC and the broader community. She highlighted the potential for enhanced networking opportunities, business partnerships, and community engagement.
In August, the MFL made a notable visit to the Space Coast for the SCBCC’s Launching Black Excellence Awards Gala. This event celebrated the achievements of Black entrepreneurs and leaders while also spotlighting the collaboration between SCBCC and the MFL. The Minor Football League plans to establish three new teams in Florida, including one in Brevard County. This initiative is aimed at further embedding the league into local communities and providing opportunities for local talent.
An important investor meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, where discussions will center around the potential establishment of a minor league football team in Brevard. This meeting is a critical step in realizing the vision of integrating sports into the economic and social fabric of the community.
