On Monday, law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop at Minton Road and Emerson Drive in Palm Bay, where they made contact with the defendant Angel Sanes, a 33-year-old male, and a juvenile driver. The arrest followed a spree of reports involving a white Acura sedan which was allegedly seen driving erratically and shooting at people and vehicles.
Multiple agencies received calls about a white Acura sedan involved in shooting incidents. One report came from a victim at Target in the Hammock Landing plaza in West Melbourne. The victim alleged that a white sedan drove by, and the passenger began shooting a splat gun, hitting him several times in the back. The vehicle was later seen fleeing north on Norfolk Parkway.
Cameras later identified the vehicle around Norfolk Parkway, with footage showing a male suspect hanging out of the passenger window with a gun. The defendant was eventually located and stopped by Palm Bay Police on Minton Road.
Upon questioning post-Miranda, Sanes admitted to riding around with the juvenile and shooting the splat gun. He claimed it was a toy and that no one was injured. He further stated that they were at the Target parking lot of Hammock Landing during the incident and was shown a photo of himself with the gun. He confessed it was him in the photo but claimed he was shooting at a friend. The defendant was aware of the juvenile’s age.
Sanes was transported to the West Melbourne Police Department for processing. He faces multiple charges:
- Contributing to the delinquency of a child
- Improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon
- Wanton or malicious shooting at or within a vehicle
- Shooting into or throwing deadly missiles into other vehicles
Further details are awaited as the investigation continues. The defendant remains in custody at the Brevard County Jail, pending further legal proceedings.
