Satellite Beach, FL — Satellite High School was placed on lockdown this afternoon following a report that a student may have brought a gun onto campus.

According to a message sent to families by Principal Lundy, law enforcement and school officials immediately responded to the report. The student in question was searched, and authorities discovered the item was a confetti popper gun, not a firearm. A search of the student and their belongings revealed nothing further.

“As a precaution law enforcement is searching the campus. All students are safe in their classrooms, and we will notify families once the lockdown is lifted,” Principal Lundy wrote.

During the lockdown, parents were advised not to attempt to pick up their children until normal activity resumed.

This incident highlights the heightened sensitivity and seriousness with which schools and law enforcement respond to any possible threats involving weapons on campus. Even toy or replica items can trigger emergency responses due to their realistic appearance and potential to cause alarm.
