West Melbourne, FL – A local man has been arrested following a violent incident at a bus stop in West Melbourne. According to the affidavit filed by the West Melbourne Police Department, Kurt Strzesynski, 31, faces felony charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and resisting an officer without violence after a confrontation with two juveniles on May 20, 2024.
The affidavit describes that Strzesynski allegedly approached the two juveniles at a bus stop on Coastal Lane in front of the Goodwill, wielding a screwdriver and demanding that they lay down on the ground to “show respect.” Eyewitness accounts supported by police statements suggest that Strzesynski threatened the juveniles without provocation, instilling fear and forcing them into compliance.
Responding officers reported that upon arrival, Strzesynski did not comply with their commands and continued his threatening behavior. After repeated orders to stop and lay down the weapon, he was detained with the use of a taser as he attempted to walk away from the scene. A metal/red screwdriver was found on Strzesynski person, matching the description provided by the victims.
In addition to the charges related to assault and imprisonment, Strzesynski also faces a charge of resisting an officer without violence for his failure to comply with law enforcement commands during the incident.
The affidavit filed by Officer Eileen Stanton states that the victims were visibly shaken but unharmed physically. Strzesynski appeared before Judge Thomas Brown where he was denied a bond.
This is not the first brush with the law for Strzesynski, whose extensive criminal history spans over a decade, highlighting a pattern of recurrent legal issues. Records reveal a litany of past offenses, including multiple charges of burglary, driving under the influence, and even exposure of sexual organs.
