In a letter sent to Palm Bay City Council members on September 29, 2025, the Chamber emphasized its commitment to fostering an inclusive business environment where diversity is recognized as a cornerstone of economic success.
A Call for Leadership and Respect
The Chamber’s Board of Directors expressed “profound concern and disappointment” over the comments, stating that such rhetoric does not reflect the values of Palm Bay or Brevard County.

“Our Indian American, Lebanese, and Muslim entrepreneurs, professionals, and families have played an invaluable role in strengthening Palm Bay’s economy—from technology and healthcare to real estate and hospitality—driving job creation and community vitality,” the letter reads. “Divisive rhetoric undermines this progress and erodes the trust essential for a healthy business climate.
Chamber’s Position
The Chamber reaffirmed its stance against discrimination and hate speech, calling on elected officials to lead with empathy and accountability. The letter urged city leaders, including Councilman Langevin, to focus on “facts, fairness, and forward-thinking solutions” when addressing sensitive issues such as immigration.

Looking Forward
The Chamber’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to championing unity and inclusion, pledging to continue building an environment where all residents and businesses can thrive.
“Together, we can ensure Palm Bay remains a welcoming beacon of opportunity in Brevard County, where every voice is heard and every business succeeds,” the statement concluded.
The controversy follows ongoing criticism of Councilman Langevin’s online activity, with community leaders and residents raising concerns about his pattern of comments targeting minority groups. The Chamber’s intervention represents one of the strongest rebukes to date from a major civic institution.
