PALM BAY, Fla. – A 13-year-old was arrested by the Palm Bay Police Department after the FBI received a tip that the juvenile was planning a mass casualty incident to take place this month, the department announced Wednesday afternoon.
According to the department’s press release, the juvenile used the TikTok app to indicate he would carry out the attack. Investigators also found electronic documents on the juvenile’s phone that expressed his desire to conduct an attack.
According to information obtained by The Space Coast Rocket, the school referenced in the case is Stone Magnet Middle School in Melbourne. The FBI last year investigated another threat from out-of-state that lead to a teen in Palm Bay but no charges were filed.
The juvenile was arrested for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting, a second-degree felony under Florida law. Because the suspect is a minor, he has not been publicly identified. The Palm Bay Police Department listed the investigation under case number 26-005529.
“We are eternally grateful to whomever submitted this tip,” the department wrote, urging parents to talk with their children and routinely check in on their mental wellbeing.
The department added that it is committed to the safety of children and school administrators and takes a “zero tolerance approach” when investigating these crimes.
This is not the first threat case connected to Stone. In October 2025, a 15-year-old Stone Middle School student who lives in Palm Bay was arrested after admitting to making an electronic threat of a mass shooting against Central Middle School in West Melbourne. That student was charged with the same offense and taken to the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center.
Threats against schools in Florida can be reported anonymously through FortifyFL, the statewide reporting tool created after the Parkland shooting, or to the FBI at tips.fbi.gov or 1-800-CALL-FBI.
