Brevard County Deputy known from last years Cocoa teen shooting, found dead in home

Brevard County Sheriff Deputy Jafet Santiago-Miranda was found dead in his Osceola home. According to Florida Today who broke the story, he was found unresponsive in his bathtub at 10:48am Sunday morning by his sister.

It’s reported that there were no signs of trauma or weapons involved, according to the report from law enforcement.

“It’s still an active and open investigation. The cause of death has not yet been determined,” said Sgt. Wayne Souza of the St. Cloud Police Department.

An autopsy is being conducted to find the cause of death.

Jafet made national news last year when he shot and killed 2 cocoa teens in a vehicle that was driving in his direction. He claimed he did so in self defense, and was not charged after an investigation that was conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
