Palm Bay man arrested for blinding BCSO helicopter pilot with laser during manhunt last night

Last night, the Palm Bay police were searching for an armed and dangerous male who was suspected of shooting and stabbing his roommate around the Malabar Rd and Eldron Blvd area.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) dispatched their STAR Helicopter to assist in the search.

During that time, a man identified as Dean Beolet, allegedly shined a laser into the helicopter multiple times. The laser shined into the night-vision goggles of the pilot, temporarily blinding him. Another officer in the helicopter happened to also be a pilot, and was able to take over the controls.

Palm Bay police were able to locate the exact location of the suspect with the laser, and arrested him with one count of Felony Misuse of Laser Light.

BREAKING: 82 year old Virginia state Sen. L. Louise Lucas, one of the most powerful Democrats in the Virginia Legislature, has been indicted on federal racketeering, marijuana trafficking and money laundering conspiracy charges.Lucas surrendered to authorities Thursday morning, according to the Justice Department. **UPDATE: VICTIM DIES IN COCOA BEACH SHOOTING, RESTAURANT SAYS**The victim of a shooting outside Graham's Beach Grill in Cocoa Beach did not survive, according to a statement posted by the restaurant on Facebook this morning. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office has not yet confirmed the death.Earlier this morning, a BCSO spokesperson told The Space Coast Rocket that a suspect had been detained and that the victim had been transported to the hospital.In its statement, Graham's said the shooter and the victim knew each other and had a dispute at another bar in Merritt Island several days ago. According to the restaurant, the victim came to Graham's to settle their differences after hearing the shooter would be there.The restaurant said the two met in the parking lot and never went inside the bar, and that the shooting took place outside. Brevard's early vote is growing every day. NPA turnout is growing too, but it keeps falling further behind.Three days into early voting, 64,059 Brevard voters have cast a ballot by mail or in person. That is 14.3% of the county's 447,257 registered voters, up from 11.6% on Tuesday evening and about 8% on Monday afternoon.Here is how each group has moved:Democrats: 16.4% Tuesday, 19.9% todayRepublicans: 10.9% Tuesday, 13.8% todayNPA: 8.5% Tuesday, 10.4% todayRepublicans had the biggest day. They cast 5,979 of the 12,262 ballots added since Tuesday evening, nearly half, and lead in-person early voting 13,706 to 7,857.NPA voters added 2,022 ballots, about one in six. They make up 24% of Brevard's registered voters, more than 107,000 people, but only 17% of the ballots cast so far.
