TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Craig Richard Forney, 66, of Titusville, has been convicted and sentenced on multiple felony counts of video voyeurism involving a child under 16, as well as evidence tampering, after investigators uncovered hidden cameras and covertly recorded nude images of a minor inside his home.

Discovery of Illegal Recordings

According to Titusville Police Department reports, the case began on October 3, 2022, when the child victim, identified in court records only as “BF,” visited Forney’s residence on Diane Drive. While using the bathroom, the child discovered what appeared to be a hidden camera disguised as a power outlet.

BF later located nude photographs of herself on Forney’s phone, including one image timestamped October 7, 2020, when she was only six years old. She photographed the hidden camera, sent the images along with the illicit photo to a family member, and was quickly removed from the home before police were contacted.

Detectives executed a search warrant on December 9, 2022, at Forney’s residence. Inside, they found multiple covert devices, including an alarm clock and a USB-style charger outfitted with miniature cameras. One of the power outlet cameras matched the device the victim identified in the bathroom.

Criminal Charges and Trial

Prosecutors charged Forney with four counts of video voyeurism by a person over 24 years of age involving a victim under 16, all second-degree felonies, and one count of tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felonyForner.

Court filings show Forney attempted to conceal or destroy camera equipment and data during the investigation, leading to the additional tampering charge.

Conviction and Sentencing

On September 2, 2025, Judge Curt Jacobus of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit found Forney guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to:

  • 18 months in state prison on each count, to be served concurrently.
  • Three years of sex offender probation following his release.
  • Sex offender registration requirements.
  • Court-ordered fines, fees, and contributions to victim and law enforcement funds totaling more than $1,400Forner.

Community Impact

The disturbing case highlights ongoing concerns about covert surveillance technology being used to exploit children. Police reported that the devices seized were designed to appear as ordinary household items, making detection by victims or parents especially difficult.

Forney, who was 61 at the time of the recordings, will now serve time in the Florida Department of Corrections before beginning probation under close supervision as a registered sex offender.
