A Sebastian woman who owns a local dog grooming business has been arrested after deputies say she stabbed her boyfriend and slashed all four tires on his truck during a violent argument Monday evening.

According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 5:39 p.m. on December 1 regarding a reported stabbing. The caller told dispatch that his girlfriend, identified as Briana Marie Eggert, had stabbed him in the leg and fled the scene.

Deputies arrived to find the victim, Christopher William Rogers, standing in the front yard of his residence talking on the phone. He had a one inch bleeding cut on his right knee, a swollen left bicep, and all four tires on his white Toyota Tacoma completely flattened.

Victim tells deputies argument began over past relationship

Rogers told deputies the couple had been in an on and off romantic relationship. The argument began inside the screened front porch of his home when Rogers admitted to sleeping with his ex girlfriend during a period when he and Eggert were separated.

Rogers said Eggert became enraged, stood up, punched him in the face, and then reached into her purse to pull out a larger bronze pocket knife. He stated he was able to knock the knife out of her hand before she produced a second small folding knife.

Rogers reported that Eggert attempted to stab him several times, striking him in the left biceps before stabbing him in the right knee while he was on the ground. He said he released her from his grasp and backed away as she walked to his truck and slashed all four tires.

Eggert then allegedly walked toward Rogers as he tried to re enter his home, but she was unable to force her way inside. She fled the area in a silver Toyota 4Runner.

Deputies locate suspect; statements made during arrest

Deputy Hackett located Eggert’s vehicle traveling on 85th Street. She was stopped and detained. During the encounter, deputies say Eggert made several spontaneous statements including:

“I guess I’m going to jail, right?”
“It was just a small, little knife, only two inches.”

Eggert later said she and the victim had been arguing verbally for some time and that she believed Rogers was cheating on her with multiple people. She told deputies she did not remember using a knife and denied intending to harm him.

She confirmed she carries multiple knives in her purse for personal protection.

Charges and booking

After reviewing all statements and evidence, deputies found probable cause and charged Eggert with:

Count 1: Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Domestic Violence (FSS 784.045.1a2)
Count 2: Criminal Mischief of $1000 or more (FSS 806.13.1b3)

Eggert was booked into the Indian River County Jail on no bond.

Community tip linked suspect to local business

A reader contacted The Space Coast Rocket earlier today reporting that Eggert owns a grooming business in Sebastian. Social media posts from July confirm she works with Tropic Paws, located at 457 Sebastian Blvd., Suite D.

Domestic violence cases involving male victims

This case brings renewed attention to domestic violence against men, an issue advocates say is often underreported due to stigma and fear of not being believed. Law enforcement emphasizes that domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of gender.

The investigation remains ongoing.
