MELBOURNE, Fla. — September 10, 2025 — Congressman Mike Haridopolos announced Wednesday that his office has recovered more than $5.4 million in benefits owed to Floridians since he took office in January. The reclaimed funds, he said, represent life-changing outcomes for thousands of residents across Brevard, Indian River, and Orange counties.

The freshman congressman, who represents Florida’s 8th District, credited his constituent services team with cutting through Washington red tape to deliver results.

“This milestone proves what I’ve believed since day one: Government should work for the people,” Haridopolos said. “These numbers represent real, earned benefits for real people: veterans receiving disability checks, families gaining survivor benefits, small businesses breaking free of IRS delays, and seniors finally getting the Social Security benefits they’ve earned.”

A Focus on Constituent Services

In just eight months, Haridopolos’ office has assisted more than 1,400 Floridians with stalled or complicated cases involving federal agencies. His staff includes several veterans with experience navigating the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense, which he says has been critical in resolving complex issues efficiently.

“This kind of work is only possible because of my dedicated staff, who pour their energy into helping people,” Haridopolos added. “They listen closely to every case, make the calls, follow up with agencies, and don’t stop until they have answers and results.”

Areas of Assistance

Constituents most frequently seek help with:

  • IRS: delayed tax returns, tax filing issues, and small business credits.
  • Social Security: disability claims, retirement and survivor benefits.
  • Veterans Affairs & DoD: disability claims, survivor benefits, medical records, VA education and home loans, and defense-related matters.
  • Passports & Immigration: urgent travel needs, visas, and pending immigration forms.

How the Office Helps

While congressional offices cannot file new applications, they can intervene when claims exceed normal processing times. In those cases, staff leverage direct federal contacts to push cases forward and secure overdue benefits.
