Principal McDonough of Oak Park School addressed the incident in a letter to families, emphasizing the swift action taken by law enforcement and school staff to ensure the safety of students and personnel. “This morning our campus was placed under a Shelter in Place, delaying student arrival due to the discovery of a toy grenade brought by a student. The situation is now resolved, and student arrival has resumed as normal,” stated McDonough.

Local authorities were quick to respond, and the Titusville Fire Department was also on the scene as a precautionary measure. Social media updates from the scene captured the community’s immediate concern, with posts indicating that the area around the school was temporarily blocked to traffic as the situation was assessed.
