Strickland Brothers burglaries: padlock cut, deposit box pried open, surveillance collected

Court records describe multiple burglaries at Strickland Brothers, 337 King Street in Cocoa.

In one reported incident, officers responded after the business manager reported the garage door padlock had been cut and the business had been burglarized. Investigators said a locked safety deposit box was broken into, with about $300 reported stolen, and the box itself described as damaged and inoperable. Officers later located a cash register till outside the business, according to the arrest paperwork.

In another burglary report tied to the same location, investigators documented additional security footage showing a suspect entering the closed business in the early morning hours. The suspect was described as wearing a black ski mask, brown jacket with a gray hood, black pants, and off white and black sandals, along with black gloves. The suspect was also described as carrying a gray backpack, with bolt cutters visible.

Detectives later wrote that a records check showed Hall was a former employee of Strickland Brothers and would have been familiar with the business layout.

Stradley Park: two golf carts reported stolen, investigators track suspects by clothing and bikes

The case paperwork also details a burglary investigation at Stradley Park, on the 1800 block of Rosetine Street in Cocoa, where two utility style golf carts were reported stolen from an equipment shed. Investigators documented the vehicles as Toro Workman GTX models valued at about $37,000 each, along with other items reported missing, including a battery and a leaf blower.

Police wrote that surveillance footage showed two suspects arriving by bicycle in the early morning, entering the shed, and leaving the area with a golf cart. One suspect was described as wearing a brown jacket, while the other wore a darker jacket with a hood and a mask.

Detectives said they later located two men and two bicycles near a homeless camp off North Range Road and noted details that they believed matched what was seen in the surveillance footage, including distinctive rims and spokes on the bikes. Hudson was described in the report as having a slight limp that investigators said appeared consistent with what was seen on video.

Residential burglary on Slippery Rock Drive leads to Hudson detention, statements tie Hall to the case

Police also connected Hudson and Hall to a residential burglary call on Slippery Rock Drive in Cocoa.

According to the arrest paperwork, officers responding to the home found Hudson seated on a scooter in the driveway, and he was detained. Investigators wrote that a caller reported seeing two males enter the property and hearing glass breaking, with one suspect fleeing while the other remained.

In a post Miranda interview, Hudson told officers that he and a friend he identified as Brandon Hall had gone to the area to retrieve tools, entered the fenced backyard, and that Hall entered a covered patio area through a window. Hudson said he later heard glass breaking and that Hall fled on a scooter, while Hudson said he was unable to leave because his scooter would not start, according to the report.

Investigators say a buyer helped recover a stolen cart

Detectives wrote that the investigation also led to the recovery of at least one of the stolen carts.

In one report, detectives contacted an individual who said he purchased a red utility cart for about $300 cash after being approached by someone known as “Frankie,” a nickname detectives associated with Hall. The buyer said he later received a Facebook friend request from a profile name tied to Hall, and he was able to identify Hall from a photograph shown by detectives, according to the affidavit. Investigators later documented that the cart they located was marked “Property of Brevard County,” and it was returned to a Brevard County Parks and Recreation representative, according to the report.

Charges filed against both men

The case affidavits list felony charges against both suspects in connection with the Stradley Park case, including burglary, theft valued over $20,000 but less than $100,000, and dealing in stolen property, along with a count alleging the suspects wore masks while committing an offense.

The broader investigation described by detectives includes additional burglaries and thefts over several months, including incidents involving Tractor Supply. In one report, detectives wrote that Hudson told them Hall was involved in a series of burglaries involving Tractor Supply, and investigators documented that video evidence and follow up work supported probable cause for multiple cases.

Both men were listed as being held at the Brevard County Jail in Cocoa.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives have indicated additional burglaries may be added as cases continue to be reviewed.
