On February 11th, former Palm Bay City Councilman Pete Filiberto was arrested after being pulled over on his motorcycle for DUI, reckless driving, and other charges.
During booking, a search was conducted if his person which produced 10.6 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine inside is shoes and socks.
After the City Council formerly called for his resignation, and unanimously asked the governor to suspend him from office, Filiberto finally resigned a week after the incident.
The Council will call for a special meeting this Thursday to pass a resolution to fill the vacancy created by his resignation. According to the new Palm Bay Charter, the vacancy will be filled by appointment of the remaining councilmen. Those interested in the appointment will be able to fill out an application to be considered.
