Elderly woman fatally struck by BCSO Crime Scene Van in Cocoa

A Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit van struck and killed a 66-year-old woman from Cape Canaveral early on Saturday in Cocoa, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident took place at 12:06 a.m. when the van was heading northbound on North Cocoa Boulevard, slightly north of McLeod Drive, according to troopers.

A crash report reveals that the woman from Cape Canaveral was walking across the northbound lanes of North Cocoa Boulevard, moving west, and not using a designated crosswalk. The van collided with her front, resulting in her death at the scene, as confirmed by troopers. The driver of the van, a 36-year-old woman from Titusville, was unhurt in the accident and stayed in at the location, according to the report.
