8-hour standoff in Cocoa finally comes to an end

A suspect involved in a shooting late Saturday night is now in custody after barricading himself in a home on North Carolina Ave. Just after 9 PM Saturday, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 500-block of N. Carolina Ave. According to the victim, the suspect fired shots inside the residence and then stole the victim’s vehicle.

A short time later, at approximately 8 a.m. Sunday, officers located the vehicle back at the home where the incident began. Officers were able to secure the victims, two adult females who were not injured. Officers believed the suspect was still in the home and armed. SWAT officers and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad robot were called in to assist.

The suspect was inside the home for approximately 8-hours before officers managed to talk him into a peaceful surrender. The suspect is identified as Raekwon Glover, (DOB 10/22/1995), He is facing charges involving Grand Theft Auto, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Violation of Probation, Shooting/Throwing Deadly Missile into Dwelling, Improper Display of Firearm, and Criminal Mischief. There were no injuries.
