Brevard County to Host Save Our Indian River Lagoon Workshop in Palm Bay

PALM BAY, Fla. — The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners will host a Save Our Indian River Lagoon workshop on Monday, January 12, in coordination with the City of Palm Bay.

The workshop is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will take place at the Palm Bay City Council Chambers, located at 120 Malabar Road SE.

According to county officials, the meeting will focus on updates and ongoing initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring the Indian River Lagoon. Presentations will be provided by the Brevard County Natural Resources Department, the Save Our Indian River Lagoon Citizen Oversight Committee, the National Estuary Program, and representatives from local businesses and the community.

County officials say the workshop is intended to provide the public with updated information on lagoon restoration efforts, program progress, and future priorities. The agenda will also include time for public comment, allowing residents to ask questions and share feedback directly with county leaders.

The meeting will be recorded and made available for later viewing online. However, it will not be livestreamed, as live broadcasts are typically limited to meetings held at Brevard County facilities.

The Save Our Indian River Lagoon program was created to address long-standing water quality issues impacting the lagoon, which spans much of Florida’s east coast and is considered one of the most biologically diverse estuaries in North America.

Residents interested in lagoon restoration efforts are encouraged to attend the workshop in person.
