68-Year-Old Man Killed in Golf Cart Crash on A1A in Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A 68-year-old man from Floridana Beach was killed Monday night after his golf cart was struck by a pickup truck on State Road A1A, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the crash happened around 9:32 p.m. near Normandy Place. A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 16-year-old boy from Melbourne Beach, was traveling southbound behind the golf cart. Witnesses told investigators the golf cart had no lights activated at the time of the crash.

The Silverado struck the rear of the golf cart, causing it to run off the roadway onto the west shoulder and overturn. The impact threw the 68-year-old driver from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending next-of-kin notification.

The 16-year-old driver of the pickup was not injured.

Troopers confirmed the golf cart driver was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
