Donald Trump issued pardons for participants in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, one of his first acts after being sworn in as the country’s 47th president on Monday.

“These are the hostages,” he said while signing the paperwork in the Oval Office.

In contrast, State Senator Randy Fine who Trump has endorsed for Congress stated that they should get the death penalty.

The Department of Homeland Security is vetting a pitch for a reality television show in which immigrants would compete against one another for U.S. citizenship.The proposed reality show "is in the very beginning stages of that vetting process and has not received approval or denial by staff," said DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin in an email.The reality competition series was pitched by Rob Worsoff, a Canadian-born writer and producer who was behind A&E's "Duck Dynasty" and Bravo's "Millionaire Matchmaker."
