Titusville Police Investigating Death After Body Found in the Indian River

On Thursday April 9th, 2026, at approximately 11:58AM, the Titusville Police Department responded to the 300 block of Indian River Avenue after receiving a report of a body found floating in the Indian River. Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased adult male approximately five feet from shore. Detectives and Forensics Investigators from the Investigations Division and the Medical Examiners Office arrived on scene to continue the death investigation.

The identity of the adult male is pending positive identification. The Brevard County Medical Examiners Office is assisting with the identification and will also determine the cause of death of the adult male. Once the adult male is identified, next of kin will be notified before the identification is released.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and our detectives are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. We are coordinating closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the individual and establish a cause of death,” said Deputy Chief Wright. “We ask for the public’s patience and encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
