Titusville Police Department make arrest in overnight shooting

On Friday October 24, 2025, Titusville Police Department Criminal Investigations Detectives concluded their investigation into a shooting, which occurred on Monday October 6, 2025 at the 400 block of Garden Street. Hunter John Carlson, 28, of Titusville, Florida was arrested for the following:

  • 1 count of Attempted Armed Robbery
  • 1 count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance footage and collected multiple statements, which revealed Carlson armed himself with a firearm while in the presence of the adult male victim at a local restaurant after business hours. The parties involved were previously acquainted prior to this incident. During the encounter, Carlson began waiving and pointing the firearm towards the victim demanding money. The victim, out of an act of self-defense, armed himself with a firearm and shot Carlson.

The victim remained on scene and has been cooperative throughout the investigation. Carlson was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Detectives completed an arrest warrant for Carlson, which was served by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Carlson was booked into the Brevard County Jail on Saturday October 25, 2025 on a $55,000 bond.

“Our investigators conducted a thorough investigation to establish a better understanding of what took place during this isolated incident between individuals who know each other,” said Detective Sergeant Bryan Nelson. “The video footage, witness statements, and physical evidence found during the investigation appeared consistent with the reported sequence of events provided by the victim, which ultimately led to Carlson’s arrest.”
