The Shortlist of Candidates to Fill Judge James Earp’s Vacancy

Last week, friends, family, and co-workers gathered for a retirement reception to honor Judge Earp for the years of service and dedication to the judicial branch. James “Jim” Earp was a Brevard County judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit in Florida for Seminole and Brevard County. In 2006, he was elected without opposition. Recently, he announced his retirement.

The 18th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission had requested for applications to fill the vacancy in the Circuit Court to fill the vacancy with Circuit Judge James Earp. Interviews were held at the Brevard County Commission Boardroom on February 6, 2020. Sixteen applications were received to apply for the vacancy and the Commission nominates the following applicants to Governor DeSantis. Please note in the attached document the names are listed in alphabetical order. The last time avacancy occured and applications took place were Spring 2019 with the retirement of Judge Tony Rainwater.
