The 2024 Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 19th. The deadline to register to vote in this election, also known as book closing, is February 20th. Voters can visit any of the four administrative offices or go to VoteBrevard.gov to register to vote or update their voter registration.

“For this election it is important voters are aware that since the Florida Democratic Party only provided one candidate nominee, that candidate will not appear on the March 19th Presidential Preference Primary ballot. Therefore, only registered Republicans have a race to vote on in the March 19th Presidential Preference Primary election,” said Tim Bobanic, Brevard County Supervisor of Elections.

When voters see their ballot for the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP), they will notice names of candidates who have reportedly suspended or ended their presidential campaigns. If a candidate did not submit a formal withdrawal by December 12, 2023, in accordance with Florida Statute, the candidate nominee’s name must remain on the PPP ballot. Votes cast for any candidate nominee appearing on the ballot will count as a vote for that candidate. Even if the candidate voted for suspends their campaign, once a ballot is received by the Supervisor of Elections office it is deemed cast.

Early Voting for the March 19th Presidential Preference Primary will be conducted from Saturday, March 9th through Saturday, March 16th at 10 locations throughout Brevard. As a reminder, voters may cast their ballot at any Early Voting site. For locations and hours of operation, select the “Early Voting” tab at the top of the page on the VoteBrevard.gov website. Voters should be aware some locations have changed.

Voters not already on the mail ballot request list have until 5:00 p.m. on March 7th to request a mail ballot be sent to them prior to the March 19th election. Current requests are valid for one general election cycle and if requested now are good through Dec. 31, 2024. Requests can be made at VoteBrevard.gov, by calling 321-290-VOTE (8683), or

at any of the four administrative offices. Military and overseas mail ballots were sent out on February 2nd and the domestic mail ballots are being sent on February 15th.

Secure ballot intake stations are available in the lobby of all four administrative offices for voters wishing to return their voted mail ballots. Please check VoteBrevard.gov for hours of availability. Mail ballots must be received in the Supervisor of Elections Offices by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

The Logic & Accuracy Test of the election equipment, conducted per F.S. 101.5612(2), is scheduled for February 27th at the Election Support Center, located at 525 N. John Rodes Blvd. in Melbourne, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
