Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic Provides Election Related Information for the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary

Published on

The 2024 Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 19th. The deadline to register to vote in this election, also known as book closing, is February 20th. Voters can visit any of the four administrative offices or go to VoteBrevard.gov to register to vote or update their voter registration.

“For this election it is important voters are aware that since the Florida Democratic Party only provided one candidate nominee, that candidate will not appear on the March 19th Presidential Preference Primary ballot. Therefore, only registered Republicans have a race to vote on in the March 19th Presidential Preference Primary election,” said Tim Bobanic, Brevard County Supervisor of Elections.

When voters see their ballot for the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP), they will notice names of candidates who have reportedly suspended or ended their presidential campaigns. If a candidate did not submit a formal withdrawal by December 12, 2023, in accordance with Florida Statute, the candidate nominee’s name must remain on the PPP ballot. Votes cast for any candidate nominee appearing on the ballot will count as a vote for that candidate. Even if the candidate voted for suspends their campaign, once a ballot is received by the Supervisor of Elections office it is deemed cast.

Early Voting for the March 19th Presidential Preference Primary will be conducted from Saturday, March 9th through Saturday, March 16th at 10 locations throughout Brevard. As a reminder, voters may cast their ballot at any Early Voting site. For locations and hours of operation, select the “Early Voting” tab at the top of the page on the VoteBrevard.gov website. Voters should be aware some locations have changed.

“Brevard takes election integrity seriously and has dedicated a page on VoteBrevard.gov to detail the efforts taken to ensure the electoral process is secure and transparent,” said Supervisor Bobanic. “My office is the trusted source for election related information, so I encourage voters to verify information they’ve seen or heard by visiting VoteBrevard.gov, calling 321-290-VOTE (8683), or following my verified Facebook and X accounts.”
