Fines of up to $500 are possible for those who violate the ordinance. The list of exceptions includes children age 2 and younger, people working in a profession who do not have contact with other people, people who are eating or drinking, and people who are exercising while maintaining social distancing.

The ordinance took effect Thursday. Montanaro, Mayor Frank Catino and Councilman Mark Brimer voted yes, while Vice Mayor Mindy Gibson and Councilwoman Jodi Rozycki voted no.
