ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — A 33-year-old Rockledge man with a long criminal history is back behind bars after police say he admitted to possessing a 3D-printed firearm and ammunition, despite being a convicted felon prohibited from owning either.

Patrick Louis Carman was arrested on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, following a call to police that initially began as a theft investigation. Carman told Rockledge officers that multiple firearms had been stolen from his Pennsylvania Avenue residence, allegedly by his girlfriend.

When officers arrived, Carman showed them photos on his phone of four Glock 19 model firearms that he claimed had been stolen. According to the arrest affidavit, Carman admitted he had manufactured the weapons himself using a 3D printer.

While on scene, officers also discovered Carman in possession of a pink-manufactured firearm converted into a submachine gun, loaded with a 15-round magazine of 9mm ammunition. Carman reportedly told investigators the gun was simply a “fun project” he had been working on.

Hazmat and Bomb Squad Response

The unusual circumstances prompted a large law enforcement presence at the home. Rockledge Police were joined by the ATF, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad, and Brevard County Fire Rescue’s Hazmat team. Authorities have not released details about the hazardous materials investigation, but neighbors were warned to avoid the area while teams worked inside the residence.

Felony Charges and Court Appearance

Carman is now facing two second-degree felony counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon (F.S. 790.23.1).

Court records show he made his initial appearance on September 24 before Judge Kimberly Musselman. His bond was set at $15,000 on one count, with the second count assigned to release on recognizance. He remains prohibited from possessing any firearms, ammunition, or weapons while awaiting trial.

An arraignment is scheduled for October 16, 2025, before Judge Benjamin B. Garagozlo at the Moore Justice Center in Viera.

Long Criminal History

Carman’s latest arrest adds to an extensive record of prior cases in Brevard County:

• 2010–2011: Multiple charges for drug paraphernalia, burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, and perjury.
• 2012–2013: Convicted of burglary, grand theft, and trafficking in stolen property; additional cases included destruction of evidence and criminal mischief.
• 2012–2014: Convictions for cannabis possession and driving with a suspended license.
• 2014: Convicted of traffic violations including unsafe driving conditions.

Many of these earlier cases resulted in guilty pleas, prosecutor dispositions, or adjudication withheld.

Current Status

Carman remains in custody at the Brevard County Jail. His charges carry the potential for significant prison time due to his status as a repeat offender.

The investigation into the firearms manufacturing and possible hazardous materials remains ongoing, with federal agencies assisting Rockledge Police.
