State Representative Tyler Sirois has filed to run for Brevard County Commission District 2. Tyler is currently serving his 4th term in the Florida House of Representatives District 31 and is prohibited for running for another term due to term limits.

Tyler previously was to run against Randy Fine for Florida Senate then withdrew consideration stating at the time it would be better for his family not to run against Fine.

Now that there’s a vacancy since Fine resigned from the Senate seat, Debbie Mayfield immediately filed to run for the seat she just termed-out of. Sirois did not want to face Mayfield and chose to stay where he current sits. Now that Mayfield failed to actually qualify for the Senate seat due to term limits, it is effectively an open seat and will be won by one of the 3 remaining candidates.

The Senate 19 seat is elected for a term of 4 years, that means Tyler would have to wait 4 years to have another shot at Senate. He has chosen now instead to run for County Commissioner in 2026.
