The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a sweeping recall that affects nearly every Tesla Cybertruck currently on the road—more than 46,000 vehicles in total. This marks the eighth recall for the polarizing electric truck since deliveries began just over a year ago.
According to federal safety officials, a stainless steel panel running along both sides of the windshield can detach while driving, creating a serious hazard for other motorists. The component, known as the cant rail assembly, is bonded to the vehicle using structural adhesive. However, the agency determined that the adhesive used by Tesla may not hold up under certain environmental conditions, raising the risk of the panels flying off mid-drive.

Tesla plans to fix the issue by using a stronger adhesive and reinforcing the attachment points. All repairs will be done free of charge, and owners can expect official notification letters to begin arriving by mail starting May 19, 2025. The recall covers all 2024 and 2025 Cybertruck models manufactured between November 13, 2023, and February 27, 2025.
