Brevard's early vote is growing every day. NPA turnout is growing too, but it keeps falling further behind.Three days into early voting, 64,059 Brevard voters have cast a ballot by mail or in person. That is 14.3% of the county's 447,257 registered voters, up from 11.6% on Tuesday evening and about 8% on Monday afternoon. Here is how each group has moved:Democrats: 16.4% Tuesday, 19.9% todayRepublicans: 10.9% Tuesday, 13.8% todayNPA: 8.5% Tuesday, 10.4% todayRepublicans had the biggest day. They cast 5,979 of the 12,262 ballots added since Tuesday evening, nearly half, and lead in-person early voting 13,706 to 7,857.NPA voters added 2,022 ballots, about one in six. They make up 24% of Brevard's registered voters, more than 107,000 people, but only 17% of the ballots cast so far. That share has slipped each day, from 18% on Monday and Tuesday to 17% today.NPA and independent voters are the one group neither party can count on, and in several Brevard races they are large enough to decide the outcome. They have 12 days left to show up.NPA and independent voters: have you voted yet? If not, what's keeping you from the polls? The Florida Bar has fired Kade McLendon, the employee whose Instagram account was used to send racist, homophobic and violent direct messages to Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Damon Wilson II.In a statement posted this afternoon, the Bar said it has concluded its internal investigation and called the messages "reprehensible and inconsistent with the mission, values, and policies of The Florida Bar."McLendon denies sending the messages. The Bar said he did not provide enough evidence to show his Instagram account had been compromised, and his employment was terminated effective today.Wilson received about a dozen messages after Miami's 43-35 double-overtime win over Florida State on Saturday. He shared screenshots on his Instagram Stories. According to published reports, the messages included the N-word, a homophobic slur, references to slavery, and threats of rape and violence against Wilson and his family.McLendon had worked as a computer technician for The Florida Bar since June 2024, according to screenshots of his LinkedIn profile, which described him as a Florida State graduate. The Bar placed him on administrative leave Tuesday while it investigated. His Instagram and LinkedIn accounts were taken down Monday.Wilson transferred to Miami this season from Missouri. TRUMP ENVOY CALLS PUTIN A "HUMANITARIAN"President Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff praised Russian President Vladimir Putin today during a meeting in St. Petersburg: "You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian, you are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that."The comment came after Russia released Stephen Hubbard, a 74-year-old American the U.S. had deemed wrongfully detained. Russian soldiers captured Hubbard in eastern Ukraine in 2022, weeks after Russia's full-scale invasion, and accused him of fighting as a mercenary.President Trump said Putin freed Hubbard at his request with no prisoner swap. He also said Hubbard would not have been released had the White House not stopped new sanctions against Russia from taking effect last week.Republican Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis publicly criticized Witkoff's remark.Over the weekend, Russian missiles struck residential areas and apartment buildings across Ukraine.#Russia #Ukraine #BreakingNews ...
