In a recent development, a Florida-based family has been handed prison sentences for their involvement in selling a fraudulent COVID-19 remedy. Mark Grenon and his three sons, Jonathan, Jordan, and Joseph Grenon, were found guilty of promoting and selling an industrial bleach product as a supposed cure for the virus.

The Grenon family operated through their online platform, the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing. They claimed that their product, named the “Miracle Mineral Solution,” could cure a wide range of diseases, including COVID-19, Alzheimer’s, autism, brain cancer, HIV/AIDS, and multiple sclerosis. Their claims were extensive, asserting that the solution could treat 95% of known diseases.

However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had not sanctioned the Miracle Mineral Solution for the treatment of COVID-19 or any other ailment. The FDA had issued warnings against the product, emphasizing that its consumption was akin to ingesting bleach. The side effects were severe, with reports of hospitalizations, critical health conditions, and even fatalities linked to the product.

Despite a 2020 order from a Miami federal judge directing the church to cease the sale of the product, the Grenons continued their operations. Evidence presented during their trial depicted the unsanitary conditions in which the solution was produced. Images showcased a dilapidated shed filled with chemical drums and thousands of MMS bottles.

The church’s websites portrayed Genesis as a non-religious entity. Mark Grenon, the co-founder, openly admitted that the church’s establishment was a strategy to legitimize the use of MMS and evade legal repercussions.

As a result of their actions, Jonathan and Jordan Grenon received prison sentences of 151 months each for conspiring to defraud the U.S. and contempt of court. Meanwhile, Mark and Joseph Grenon were sentenced to 60 months each.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of false cures and the importance of relying on approved medical treatments and advice.
