Cocoa, FL – A tragic accident on Interstate 95 near mile marker 201 resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left two others seriously injured early Friday morning, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:30 AM on March 28, 2025, involved a high-speed pursuit and a collision between a fleeing vehicle and two parked tow trucks.
The FHP report details that a 2015 Mercedes C-Class (Vehicle 1), driven by an individual actively fleeing from law enforcement, was traveling northbound on I-95 at speeds exceeding the posted limit. The vehicle veered onto the exit ramp at King Street, where it collided with a 2005 Ford F-650 tow truck (Vehicle 2) and a 2011 Ford F-750 tow truck (Vehicle 3). Both tow trucks were unoccupied and parked on the right shoulder of the ramp.
At the time of the crash, a pedestrian, identified as a 39-year-old male from Palm Bay, was working beneath Vehicle 3, hooking Vehicle 2 to its bed. The impact of the collision caused serious injuries to both the pedestrian and the driver of Vehicle 1, who were subsequently airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment.
