Driver crashes into burned-down Phantom Fireworks building

Late last night, an unidentified driver crashed their vehicle into the Phantom Fireworks building on 192 that burned down last month after a driver crashed into it sparking a tremendous fire.

The condition of the driver is not known.

The building that was deemed a total loss, was condemned and taped off and fenced by the city.

The Florida Bar has fired Kade McLendon, the employee whose Instagram account was used to send racist, homophobic and violent direct messages to Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Damon Wilson II.In a statement posted this afternoon, the Bar said it has concluded its internal investigation and called the messages "reprehensible and inconsistent with the mission, values, and policies of The Florida Bar."McLendon denies sending the messages. The Bar said he did not provide enough evidence to show his Instagram account had been compromised, and his employment was terminated effective today.Wilson received about a dozen messages after Miami's 43-35 double-overtime win over Florida State on Saturday. He shared screenshots on his Instagram Stories. According to published reports, the messages included the N-word, a homophobic slur, references to slavery, and threats of rape and violence against Wilson and his family.McLendon had worked as a computer technician for The Florida Bar since June 2024, according to screenshots of his LinkedIn profile, which described him as a Florida State graduate. The Bar placed him on administrative leave Tuesday while it investigated. His Instagram and LinkedIn accounts were taken down Monday.Wilson transferred to Miami this season from Missouri.
