Following our June 26 report on Dr. Ara Deukmedjian’s heated exchange with a nurse during a live-streamed surgery at Deuk Spine Institute in Suntree, Florida, new details have emerged about a key employee at the clinic. Public records indicate that Richard Shamoon was booked into Orange County jail on July 28, 2025, under an immigration hold.
According to the Orange County Corrections Department booking information, Shamoon, a 45-year-old white male, was detained without additional criminal charges listed beyond the immigration hold, which is typically issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for individuals subject to potential deportation proceedings. His last known location was the Orange County Jail, but current inmate searches show no active custody status, suggesting he was likely transferred to federal authorities at Alligator Alcatraz.

Shamoon’s professional ties to Deuk Spine Institute are documented in business directories, where he is listed as a business consultant based in Melbourne, Florida. Patient reviews of the clinic have praised a “Richard” for his role in scheduling surgeries and patient relations, aligning with descriptions of his duties. The institute’s website lists only physicians like Dr. Deukmedjian and does not mention Shamoon or other non-medical staff.
