Major Crash Shuts Down All Lanes on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County

St. Lucie County Sheriff Deputies are currently assisting the Florida Highway Patrol with a traffic homicide investigation (THI) at the 170mm on the Florida Turnpike in Fort Pierce.

The incident involves a semi-truck and trailer that jackknifed and came to rest on top of a passenger vehicle at the 170 mile marker Northbound side of the Florida Turnpike. St. Lucie Fire Rescue working on assisting trapped passengers.

This remains an active scene, and all northbound lanes on the Florida Turnpike are currently shut down in St. Lucie County. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Expect heavy delays in the area.

The Florida Department of Transportation last updated the situation at 3:49 p.m., noting that all lanes remain closed.
