Brevard County Commissioners vote unanimously to fund sample ballots and postage

Published on

After a long discussion from both the public and the commissioners, Commissioner Jason Steele made a motion to fund the Supervisor of Elections budget specific to funding for mailing sample ballots and return postage.

They originally voted 3-2 to cut the funding in previous meetings however, Commissioner Steele announced on social media this morning he would be changing his vote after listening to the community.

Commissioner Pritchett was against paying for return postage and was planning to vote against the item. Commissioner Tobia who was leading the efforts for the cuts however, convinced her to vote with the majority because the amount being debated was so small relative to where the debate began.

She agreed but said to Tim Bobanic that her vote was coming with a lecture to leave emotion and politics out of these discussions in the future.
