Slow-motion appears to show deputy walking towards path of vehicle firing as it turns away

Slow motion of the dash cam footage appears to show the driver clearly trying to drive around the deputy. The deputy opens fire immediately while stepping towards the vehicle and continuing to fire as it passes him.

It also appears that the front tires are turned completely to the right, and stay that way during the shooting while the deputy is on the vehicles left side.

Both patrol cars are completely blocking the road and the driver appears to be trying to get around them by driving up onto the sidewalk.

Sheriff Ivey made the following statement in a press release today.

16 year old Angelo Crooms turns and accelerates the vehicle towards Deputy Santiago-Miranda who was then forced to fire his service weapon in an attempt to stop the deadly threat of the car from crashing into him.
