Tallahassee, FL — Today, the Florida Democratic Party is proud to announce the first featured speakers for their annual Leadership Blue Gala on Saturday, June 21: Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey.
“The Florida Democratic Party is thrilled to host Senator Cory Booker and Governor Andy Beshear at our annual Leadership Blue Gala,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Senator Booker and Governor Beshear are two of the brightest stars of today’s Democratic Party, and their visit to Florida is more proof of the party’s commitment to the future of our state and the importance of the South.”
Andy Beshear is America’s most popular Democratic governor, winning three statewide elections in dark-red Kentucky. Governor Beshear has overseen historic economic development, attracting thousands of new good-paying jobs in every corner of the Commonwealth and positioning Kentucky as a leader in electric battery manufacturing. Under his leadership, Kentucky has seen record investments in infrastructure including roads, bridges and high speed internet, and is delivering clean water to communities that for far too long have been overlooked and underserved.
“Governor Beshear is living proof that the right leader with the right message can break through partisan politics in the South. His steady, principled leadership is an inspiration to red state Democrats everywhere,” said Chair Fried.
As New Jersey’s Senator, Cory Booker has brought an innovative and consensus-building approach to tackling some of the most difficult problems facing New Jersey and our country. Senator Booker has advocated for economic policy that expands opportunity and increases wages, and has been a leader in the fight to protect the Affordable Care Act, while also championing proposals to build upon the law, increase access to care, and lower costs.

From his historic 25-hour filibuster to his sit-in on the Capitol steps, his leadership in this moment has energized Democrats across the country and inspired millions to re engage in the political process.” said Chair Fried.
