Brevard County, FL – A tragic crash late Saturday night claimed the life of a 76-year-old Cocoa man after his vehicle veered off the road and struck multiple objects before coming to a stop in a driveway, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:52 p.m. on February 22, 2025, near the intersection of Fay Boulevard and Deer Lane in Brevard County.
Authorities identified Vehicle 1 as a 2006 Honda Odyssey driven by the elderly male, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. According to the FHP report, the van was traveling westbound on Fay Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, the driver veered off the roadway.
The vehicle first struck a mailbox, then a speed limit sign, before hitting another mailbox. It then veered right, crashing into lattice fencing, a parked 2013 Chevy Cruze (Vehicle 2) in a driveway, and ultimately collided with a house. The impact caused the home’s garage door to collapse, striking two additional parked vehicles inside the garage—a 2007 Chevy Impala (Vehicle 3) and a 1985 Chevy El Camino (Vehicle 4).
The van came to a final stop in the driveway after the sequence of collisions. Emergency responders pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
There were two residents inside the home at the time of the crash, but they were not injured.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
