Two Brevard County men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a road rage incident that resulted in a shooting on State Road 46. The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the Mims area and involved an SUV carrying a couple and three young children.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the shooting around 6:45 p.m. The victims were traveling east on State Road 46 when a black Dodge pickup began tailgating them. The truck ultimately passed the SUV, forced it halfway off the road, cut it off, and came to a stop in front of it. Two men then exited the truck and fired several shots at the SUV, a GMC Yukon, striking it multiple times.
Miraculously, despite there being nine bullet holes and a shattered front passenger window, none of the occupants of the SUV, including three children aged 6, 4, and 18 months, were injured.
The suspects, identified as Chad Morrow, 45, of Cocoa, and Chad McAninch, 52, of Port St. John, were taken into custody after the victims called 911 and followed the truck at a safe distance. Brevard County deputies located the truck and conducted a felony traffic stop. Both men have been charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
