2nd Passenger dies in New Year’s Eve Traffic Crash

On the 24th of January 2024, the second occupant involved in this traffic crash, identified as Jenny Renee Golden, 50, of Cocoa Beach, succumbed to her injuries. Mark Christian Vannicola Jr, 36, of Merritt Island, who is current in custody at the Brevard County Jail was charged with an additional count of DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide.

BREAKING: King Harald V of Norway has died at 89.The palace announced that the king died peacefully early Friday morning at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet. He had been hospitalized since Aug. 17 after treatment for a blood disorder led to fluid retention, and he later developed an infection.Harald took the throne in 1991 after the death of his father, King Olav V, and reigned for 35 years, making him Europe's oldest monarch. 🚨 BREAKING: The Florida Commission on Ethics found probable cause today against Congressman Randy Fine on TWO ethics counts stemming from complaints we filed over $20,000 in personal legal fees paid by his political committee, Friends of Randy Fine.The Commission found sufficient evidence and probable cause to move forward that the two $10,000 payments constituted prohibited gifts to Fine.The two counts involve separate provisions of Florida ethics law including the prohibition against accepting gifts worth more than $100 from certain prohibited sources and the separate prohibition against accepting a gift from a political committee when the payment is not primarily related to authorized political activity.If Fine is ultimately found in violation, Florida law provides for a civil penalty equal to THREE TIMES the value of the prohibited gift, $60,000 on the $20,000 at issue in addition to any other penalties that may be imposed under Florida Statute 112.317.The $20,000 was paid to Brevard attorney Alan Landman to represent Fine in connection with efforts to prevent his depositions in two separate court cases. Fine was ultimately deposed anyway.One of those cases produced the now-infamous viral video showing Fine hiding under his desk from a process server attempted to serve him with the deposition subpoena. 29,628 POUNDS OF UNINSPECTED BEEF HIT FLORIDA THIS MONTH. NOW TRUMP WANTS TO LOOSEN THE RULESPresident Trump announced Friday on Truth Social that he is having legal documents drawn up to give farmers and ranchers "the right to PROCESS THEIR OWN FOOD," calling the four dominant meatpackers a "nasty Monopoly" mostly owned outside the U.S.Here is what the post does not address: inspection.Ranchers can already slaughter their own animals. What they cannot do is sell that meat unless the facility meets federal sanitation standards and submits to USDA inspection. That is not paperwork. It is the system.Look at this year alone. On Aug. 7, an Aventura, Florida company recalled about 29,628 pounds of Argentine beef shipped to Florida and Texas without required federal reinspection. On Aug. 8, a Chicago firm recalled ready to eat pastrami and corned beef over Listeria. On Aug. 26, a Boston company recalled roughly 24,900 pounds of chicken products made without inspection. All Class I, the highest risk category.When meat moves uninspected, USDA says its safety is simply unknown. The CDC estimates 48 million Americans get sick and up to 3,000 die from foodborne illness every year.Meanwhile the agency doing the catching has shrunk. FSIS lost about 9 percent of its workforce in 2025, most of it from the group that includes inspectors, and consumer complaints jumped nearly 40 percent.The squeeze on independent ranchers is real.
