16-year-old Palm Bay High student who was shot Saturday night, has passed away

A 16-year-old boy who was shot in the back of the head late Saturday night has died from his injuries.

The shooting happened on Cedar Drive in Melbourne new Florida Avenue and Lipscomb St.

There have been no arrests in the case as of yet, but police say that the suspects fled in a white Nissan Altima.

The next day another shooting occurred in a neighborhood nearby that is believed to be in retaliation. There were no reported injuries in the shooting, and no arrests.

Melbourne Police are asking for anyone with any information for these incidents to contact them.

Melbourne has been experiencing a string of gun violence over the last few weeks with a reported at least 5 shootings this month.
