Shooting in Downtown Melbourne last night leaves 3 in the hospital

Police said there was a fight around 1:30 a.m. last night E New Haven Avenue near the Debauchery Bar.

According to a bartender there, 2 fights broke out, and individuals involved returned with guns. All the customers ran to the back and were laying on the ground.

As officers arrived on scene, they saw a large crowd and a crime scene. However, they did not find any victims.

A short time later, officers were dispatched to Holmes Regional Medical Center where they found the three men being treated.

At the hospital, police said they stopped a driver who was dropping off one of the victims.

Two men inside the car, who were not shot, tried to run. Police arrested them for resisting an officer.

Detectives are continuing to work on this investigation. They believe someone at the scene may have information on the shooting.
