VIDEO: Motorcyclist Killed in Melbourne Crash Identified as Palm Bay Man

MELBOURNE, FL — A tragic collision on South Harbor City Boulevard in Melbourne claimed the life of a motorcyclist Wednesday morning and triggered a traffic homicide investigation by the Melbourne Police Department.

According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 11:24 a.m. in the 700 block of S. Harbor City Blvd., involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, they found the motorcyclist unresponsive and trapped beneath a vehicle. Brevard County Fire Rescue attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Police identified the deceased as 40-year-old Joshua Risby Garcia of Palm Bay.

Preliminary investigation indicates Garcia was traveling northbound on a motorcycle when a passenger vehicle attempted to turn left out of a parking lot at 709 S. Harbor City Blvd., pulling directly into the motorcycle’s path. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.

A second motorcycle, driven by Wesley Eugene, 54, of Melbourne, was traveling a short distance behind Garcia. Eugene attempted to avoid the collision but ultimately struck the front of the passenger vehicle. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as Kenneth Anthony Annalora Diffie, 81, of Melbourne, and his passenger were both transported with minor injuries.

The Melbourne Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is actively investigating the crash as a traffic homicide. Anyone with information is urged to contact Traffic Homicide Investigator Officer Costello at (321) 616-6027.
