KRISTIANE CALERO, 44, was convicted at trial in June by Brevard County prosecutors Kerri-Ann McGuire and Jennifer Mostert. At an Aug. 20 hearing in Viera, Circuit Judge Curt Jacobus sentenced Calero for the following:

  • 10 counts of sexual battery of a victim younger than 12: Natural life in prison.
  • Two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a person younger than 12: Natural life in prison.
  • One count of providing obscene material to a minor: 35.8 years.

“I’m glad the jury stuck through the case, listened to all the evidence, and brought justice to our community,” McGuire said. “This is why I do what I do, to bring justice to Brevard County.”

Calero still faces charges of sexual-battery, lewd and lascivious molestation, and computer solicitation of a child in a separate case for having sex with an 11-year-old babysitter.

Calero confessed to the sex crimes to Titusville Police investigators in 2022, but the State Attorney’s Office made no plea offer to resolve the case. Instead, McGuire and Mostert proceeded to trial to pursue the strongest-possible conviction and sentence for the man.

Calero told police the sex crimes happened at his apartment off South Park Avenue in early 2022 in the months following his wife’s death from COVID-19. Besides the sex acts, Calero said he showed online pornography to the children. The young victims confirmed details in testimony at his trial.

At sentencing in Viera, the judge also declared Calero a sexual predator.
